Rewrite Your Script: Change your Perspective and Focus

When you write something down on paper, it now becomes real in time and space. You have a springboard on which to go forth.  Journaling does not have to show up as only putting your problems down on paper.

Put your prayer requests down on paper as well.

Make a practice of putting your prayer requests down in your journal.

Put that journal aside for awhile and revisit later. See just how many prayers God has answered, but it is important to take note of how God may have delivered your prayers in a different way.

For example, if you asked for the provision of a husband but God guided you toward healing and you found a new job which pays more, which offers you flexibility, which eliminates financial dependence on another human being, which empowers you – and last but never least – reminds you God is your Father and your husband. For example, you can revisit your journal and see just how God has provided for you – even if it shows up differently!

The Lord’s Answer

2 “Then the Lord replied:

“Write down the revelation
    and make it plain on tablets
    so that a herald[a] may run with it.
For the revelation awaits an appointed time;
    it speaks of the end
    and will not prove false.
Though it linger, wait for it;
    it[b] will certainly come
    and will not delay.”

Keeping a gratitude journal – Stop Focusing on What Isn’t because You Will Miss Out on What Already Is

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits:

Put down on paper the many blessings God has already bestowed on you, but importantly, please feel truly and authentically into those blessings.

It is very important while you are journaling to feel the emotions of:

  • joy,
  • peace,
  • safety,
  • satisfaction,
  • fulfillment

If you can feel those emotions in your mind’s eye (imagination) and in your body and heart, combined with the written word, you have the secret to a joy-full life!
